After many hours of insurgent air raids, as- sisted by artillery, the infantry headed by fifteen tanks, attacked the entrenched positions.
The Basques resisted strongly, mowing down successive waves of men, and making insurgent reinforcements necessary.
The Basques, lacking anti-tank weapons, were forced to withdraw to their second line of positions, whence they counter-attacked twice. Reuter.
