"cracked down" to-day on Jimmy Braddock and Barney Ross and ordered them to defend their world's boxing championships against Max Schmeling and Ceferino Garcia.
THE COMMISSION ORDERED ROSS TO ANSWER THE CHALLENGE OF GARCIA, FILIPINO WELTERWEIGHT, WITHIN 15 DAYS AFTER MAY 27 OR VACATE HIS WORLD'S WELTER TITLE.
Braddock was ordered to return to New York immediately and complete training for defence of his heavyweight title against Max Schmeling in Madison Square Garden on June 3.
General John J. Phelan, chair- man of the commission, refused to indicate whether he would vacate Braddock's title for non- compliance with the order.
Braddock is at present training for a June 22 bout with Joe Louis in Comiskey Park, Chicago.
