HE Ranger, the new yacht being built by Mr. THE
Harold S. Vanderbilt at a cost of £80,000, which may be the America's Cup defender, will be both longer and heavier than Mr. T. O. M. Sopwith's challenger, Endeavour II. Her specifications have now been made public by the designers, Messrs. Sparkman, Stephens and Burgess.

SHE IS 1661⁄2 TONS, COMPARED WITH THE 164 of Saturday's Lawn Bowls League TONS OF ENDEAVOUR II., AND IS 135FT. LONG. ENDEA-matches:- YOUR II, WHOSE OFFICIAL MEASUREMENTS HAVE NEVER BEEN DISCLOSED HERE, IS UNDERSTOOD TO BE 132FT. LONG OVER ALL. BOTH ARE 87FT. ON THE WATER.
Only one dimension of Ranger was withheld-her beam, which was merely said to be “under 22ft." That of Endeavour II. is 21ft. 5in. Ranger's mast will be 165ft. 11in. about 2ft shorter than that of Endeavour II. -- with a "bury" below deck of 11ft. 3in. It is oval in shape, and made of four curved duralumin plates welded together. At the head it will taper to 12in.

RANGER'S SAILS'
