Oriental Theatre Recital

was composed in the year 1843; after a period of very successful concerts in Russia and Germany. After a flash of an opening phrase, a beauti- ful cantabile melody is taken up by the Oboe. This theme is very well treated in Open. Canon on the Full Band, and leads straight into the overture proper. Here the tempo of a 6-8 rhythm, trips along to delight- ful melodies,
