“KING WILLOW” CAME INTO HIS OWN LAST SATURDAY WITH THE OPENING OF THE COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS, AND FRIENDLY MATCHES, THE OUTSTANDING FEATURE BEING THE SMASHING VICTORY OF GLAMORGAN OVER KENT AT CARDIFF, WHERE THE WINNERS TOTALLED 451. DYSON AND DAI DAVIES, MADE LIGHT OF THE KENT ATTACK, WHICH THIS SEASON IS WITHOUT THE AID OF “TICH” FREEMAN, AND SCORED 104 AND 118, RESPECTIVELY.
E. C. Jones, who made two appearances for the County last year without taking a wicket, captured 5 for 38 to dismiss Kent for 152 in their first knock. Their second effort was little better, Mercer bowling well to take 4 for 59.
