GOVERNOR AND LADY CALDECOTT

UITNESS FIRING

THE

HE second annual prize meeting of the Hong Kong Rifle Association concluded yesterday with the firing of the main attractions in the “Bis- ley" and the competition for the most coveted tro- phy, the Governor's Cup, awarded to the possessor of the highest aggregate points.

The Portugal hockey team, above, with Lieut. F. da Costa, founder of Macao hockey, in the centre, lost to Mr. A. A. Dand's XI by three, clear goals last Thursday on the Y.M.C.A. ground.

Chaired

At the conclusion of the shoot- ing, Sergt. Blandford was "chair- ed" across the range in traditional style by fellow competitors while the band marched in front playing appropriately conquering airs.

In the presentation ceremony which took place afterwards in the open air, Major Walker said the magnificent standard of shooting and the fine weather had contribut- ed to the success of the meeting. The meeting, had been further dis- tinguished by the presence on the ranges of the Royal Navy who had done well and would, he hoped, continue to support them. Donors of cups and trophies had been very generous for without their aid an event such as the rifle meeting would lose much of its attraction. The rifle range staff, particularly Major D. R. Steers and Capt. Kim, had worked strenuously behind the scenes and they were all grateful for what they had done. (Ap- plause).

Lady Caldecott presented the prizes after which cheers given for the Vice-Regal couple.
