CHINESE PAIR STAGE RECOVERY (By “ADREM”)

HOLDING on tenaciously when the opposition were within an ace of winning the second game, Patrick Wong and C. E. Chng, of the Chin- ese "Y," won the Men's Doubles Badminton Cham- pionship of the Colony, at Club de Recreio last night, from M. A. Oliveira and J. J. Remedios, by 15-9, 17-15.
Both games were played at a furious pace and the standard was fairly high. Wong was not the dominating figure that I expected he would be, Chng, his partner, played excellently, both his net shots and his smashing being very good. Probably the finest dis- play was given by J. J. Remedios, who for disguise of direction and pretty touches on the forecourt, was an equal to the inimitable Wong at his best.
Oliveira, following his usual practice, was rather shaky at the In the start and in the first game was never really sure of himself.

second set, however, he came into his own and was conspicuous GOOD
It must have been very dis. chiefly for his wonderful retrieving. concerting for him to have had all his hardest smashes picked up by both Wong and Chng with the greatest of ease.
