10.31. The uprating of the Yuen Long Treatment Works, from 2 million gallons per day to 4 million gallons per day was completed and work on alterations to Lam Tei Pumping Station commenced.

10.32. A 48 ins. and 54 ins. pumping main was laid from the Tai Mei Tuk Pumping Station to the Plover Cove Stage II tunnels to increase the station output. Installation of additional pumping plant was in hand and construction of irrigation works in the New Territories associated with Plover Cove Water Scheme continued.

10.33. Work commenced on the construction of the service reservoir, break pressure tank, and mainlaying for the fully treated supply to Sai Kung Town and distribution mains were laid for a standpipe supply to San Tsuen in Tsuen Wan.

10.34. Design work on the proposed Peninsula High Level Salt Water Reservoir and Pumping Station at Tsuen Wan was completed and the pumping plant ordered.

10.35. Construction work on the Cheung Chau Water Supply Scheme to provide treated water from the Shek Pik treatment works was completed. Pump installation work was substantially completed and minor electrical work was in hand.

10.36. Work commenced on the Tai O Water Supply Scheme to supply Tai O and nearby areas with filtered water.

10.37. Mainlaying work for the scheme to provide treated water to Tsing Yi Island was in hand, but work on the submarine main was deferred because of a decision to lay the main on the proposed road bridge across Rambler Channel.

10.38. A service tank was constructed for an automatic filtered water supply to Tong Fuk Prison.

10.39. Mainlaying work was completed for a salt water supply to the new Lai Chi Kok Hospital.

10.40. Site investigations were completed and reports and feasibility studies prepared for North Lamma Reservoir, Kat O Water Supply, Kau Lau Wan Water Supply and Wo Keng Shan Irrigation Reservoir.

10.41. Work proceeded to increase the capacity of the Tsuen Wan Filters and pumping station. Alteration to the filter beds was completed, manufacture of new pumps was in progress and orders were placed for electrical gear and treatment equipment.
