Operations Sub-Division
10.19. In addition to routine data collection, draw-off pattern calculations, and the monitoring of the supply system, the Sub-division assisted in data preparation and computations in connection with water charges.
10.20. The Hydrological section was transferred from Planning Division, and continued the collection and study of hydrological data from catchment areas. Observations were taken at 122 rain gauging, 15 storm, 8 reservoir overflow, and 2 evaporation stations. Observations were also made at 13 low flow weirs and 18 observation wells on the High Island Water Scheme.
10.21. The 1969 hydrological data book was prepared for printing, and the Gross Yield Report was under revision. The Water Resources Survey Section was also transferred from the Planning Division. Further studies were in hand on regulations and operation rules for the management of storage and supply by computerization. Studies of future demands and regulated yields of existing and proposed schemes and the economic development of resources including desalting were completed and recommendations were made.
