Distribution Section
10.08. Extensions to both fresh and salt water distribution mains were carried out to supply new development areas, undersized or defective mains replaced, and alterations made to facilitate road construction work. A total of 77 miles of mains were laid as extensions to the fresh and salt water distribution systems.
Waste Detection Section
10.09. Systematic waste detection continued throughout the year. Quarterly checks were carried out in 181 fresh water areas and annual checks in 25 salt water areas. A number of major leaks were discovered and repaired, resulting in an estimated daily saving of over four million gallons of water.
House Service Section
10.10. The number of meters installed was 45,701. This was a return to the normal annual trend, as against last year's abnormally high trend caused by the installation of individual metered connections to Mk. III and IV resettlement blocks.

10.11. The Division comprises two Sub-Divisions; a Headworks Sub-Division responsible for the maintenance and operation of storage reservoirs, intakes, filter stations, trunk mains and service reservoirs; and an Operations Sub-Division, responsible for monitoring pumping stations, service reservoirs and other facilities, for the collection and processing of hydrological and other data for design and record purposes, and for the development of rules for operation of the multi-reservoir systems.
10.12. At the end of the year 37,614 million gallons of water was held in storage including 30,809 million gallons in the Plover Cove Reservoir. Storage at the same time last year was 30,012 million gallons of which 23,879 million gallons was in Plover Cove. Rainfall for the
