A. WALLIS MYERS)
Monte Carlo, February 27.
ENGLAND and Germany will contest the final of
the Butler International Doubles to-morrow. In the semi-final to-day, G. P. Hughes and C. E. Hare beat Petra and Pelizza, of France, 3-6, 6-2, 6–2, 6–4, while G. von Cramm and H. Henkel, of Germany, defeated J. Brugnon and C. Boussus, of France, 6-2, 1–6, 6–0.
NEW HOLDERS, THEREFORE, ARE CERTAIN, SINCE NEITHER GERMANY NOR ENGLAND HAS WON THE EVENT BEFORE.. THE ANNIHILATION OF THE TWO FRENCH TEAMS WAS UNEXPECTED, BUT BOTH WERE REACTING FROM YESTERDAY'S STRENUOUS PLAY.
AFTER HARE HAD TESTED HIS INJURED LEFT FOOT AND FOUND THAT IT COULD BEAR THE FULL WEIGHT WHEN TURNING, HE AND HUGHES WERE TACTICAL MASTERS OF THE TWO YOUNG FRENCHMEN.
