BOARD QUESTION JIM WARNOCK'S CLAIMS
SURPRISE MOVE BY SCOTS

An attempt is being made by the Scottish branch of the Brit- ish Boxing Board of Control to attach the world's fly-weight championship to a match made between Benny Lynch, of Glas- gow, world's champion, and Jim Warnock, of Belfast, to take place in Glasgow on June 2.
It was stated recently in de- finite terms by Mr. C. F. Don- mall, secretary of the Board, on behalf of the stewards, that this title match would not be permit ted until Warnock had proved himself superior to two other challengers, Peter Kane, of Liv- erpool, and Phil Milligan, of Oldham.

But the match itself so sparkled with highlights of English” success, following bursts of Australian fighting, and culminating amid Warnock defeated Lynch in a non-rational enthusiasm over vic- title fight in Belfast some time ago, and a return contest under cham pionship conditions would doubt less be a great attraction in Glas- gow. But the Board of Control have, with a few exceptions, held steadily to their constructive policy of eliminating contests to ensure that the best challenger faces the champion. It entails delays at times, but it is a wise policy.
