AMERICAN SWIMMERS FOR JAPAN
TWO OLYMPIC CHAMPIONS INCLUDED IN TEAM
US. FEDERATION'S PROTEST
Shanghai, March 11.
TEAM of five American swimmers and divers, including one girl, will compete in Japan this summer, it was decided by the American Swim-1 ming Federation last Tuesday, according to a special dispatch to the "Asahi" from New York states the "Japan Advertiser" on March 6. The squad's personnel includes leaders in the free style, breast stroke and back stroke swims and in diving. Those chosen to make the trip are:
JACK MEDICA, WINNER OF THE OLYMPIC CHAMPION- SHIP IN THE 400-METRE FREE STYLE RACE AT BERLIN, AND RUNNER-UP IN THE 1,500-METRE EVENT. HE HAS COMPETED IN JAPAN TWICE IN THE PAST AND WILL AP PEAR AT THE IMPERIAL UNIVERSITY INDOOR POOL-ON APRIL 29 ON HIS WAY BACK TO THE UNITED STATES FROM AUSTRALIA.

Miss Rawls is the record holder for the 300-yard individual med- ley race, which is composed of 100 yard laps in the free style, breast. stroke and back stroke swims. She won the U. S. national champion- ship last summer in this event for the sixth time in succession.
KIPHUTH INVITED
The American Swimming Feder- ation has not approved Japan's proposal that Kiefer's coach, Mr. Brauminger, accompany the team, but suggests that Mr. Robert Kip- huth, the United States Olympic swimming coach who has already visited Japan twice as mentor of American swimming teams, again make the trip, the paper reports.
However, if Japan insists on Mr. Brauminger, the A. S. F. will un- doubtedly accede to the request, it is believed. The official announce ment on this issue is expected with- in the next few days.

London, February 18.-The Hert- fordshire F.A. has notified the F.A. that it is opposed to the proposed change in the rules which will per mit boys between the ages of 15 and 17 to be signed on as proba- tionary professionals with the con- sent of their parents or guardians.
