ASTERN Athletic Association, who were only admitted to the First Division of the local League this season, but who more than justified their inclusion with several notable victories, have accepted the invitation of the Philippine Amateur Athletic Federation to send an Association Football team to Manila for a series of seven games during April and May. THE INVITATION WAS ISSUED THROUGH MR. L. R. ILDEFONSO, LOCAL HON. SECRETARY OF THE FILIPINO CLUB, ORIGINALLY TO THE H.K.F.A., WHO DECLINED FOR OBVIOUS REASONS, AND LATER TO SEVERAL CLUBS AND MILITARY TEAMS. I UNDERSTAND THAT THE RIFLES, WHO ARE AT PRESENT AT THE TOP OF THE FIRST DIVISION LEAGUE TABLE, HAVE ALSO ACCEPTED THE INVITATION, BUT OWING TO THE CONGESTED STATE OF THEIR LEAGUE FIXTURES DURING APRIL, AND THE FACT THEY STAND AN EXCELLENT CHANCE OF WINNING THE CHAMPIONSHIP, THEY CAN ONLY MAKE THE TRIP IN MAY. THEY HAVE ACCEPTED UNDER THESE CIR- CUMSTANCES AND ARE NOW AWAITING A REPLY FOR THE P.A.A.F.
Dr. Y. Ylanan, of the Philippine Amateur Athletic Federation, in a letter to Mr. L. R. Ildefonso, states: "With regard to the series with the Eastern Athletic Association, please find out whether the team could arrive in Manila by the RMS Empress of Asia on April 24, and play on April 25, 27, 29, and on May 1, 2, 4 and 9; and return by the R.M.S. Empress of Canada, leaving Manila on May 10.” -
