Birmingham Sets

Record

Birmingham, Britain's pace the back-to-work race, has set low record for unemployment

Mr Geoffrey Lloyd MP3: Secretary to the Home Office, speaking at the annual dinner of the Unionist Workers' League in Birmingham, stat- ed that:-

The latest figure was 20 per cent. lower than the previous low record, made in 1926. under the which was Conservative Government, and just be- fore the general strike.

Since the National Government had taken office unemployment had fallen by 80 per cent.

Factors which had played a great part in Brimingham's success had been the protective and financial measures of the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
