COMING YACHTING SEASON GENERAL NOTICES

AMERICA'S CUP IN THE LIMELIGHT

ENDEAVOUR II v. RANGER

ABSENCE OF BIG RACING BOATS

(By Major B. Heckstall-Smith)

London, February 9.

The coming yachting season will be the first since 1920 when no big first-class yachts will race in British waters. The outstand- ing race of the year will be in America, where Mr. Sopwith willį sail for the America's Cup - Endeavour v. Ranger. It is the sixteenth challenge for the trophy won by the schooner America at Cowes in 1851, and never yet recovered.

Many thought Endeavour was a good enough boat to bring back the Cup in 1934. Last year Mr. Sopwith built 2 second Endeavour, a larger and more. powerful boat - 20 tons heavier
