Shanghai Invited During Easter INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT
At a meeting of the Hong Kong Hockey Association held yesterday evening in the St. Andrew's Church Hall, and pre- sided over by Mr. A. A. Dand, a letter from the Shanghai Hockey Association concerning the pros- pects of an Interport during Easter, election of a new Pre- sident and of a new Hon. Secre tary, were the main items which came under discussion.
Among those present were, in addition to Mr. A. A. Dand: Mr. F. A. Kemp, Hon. Secretary, Mr. A. M. Xavier, Hon. Treasurer, Sub-Insp. L. Tyler (Police), Mr. A. E. P. Guest (Radio), Mr. Awtar Singh (H.K.V.D.C. Sig.), Mr. G. T. Palmer (Y.M.C.A.), Mr. G. Sommer (H.K.HC.), Mr. K Hussain (KIT.C.), Lieut. T. B. H. Otway (Army), Mr. A. S. Xavier (Argonautas), Mr. P. Singh (Y.M.C.A.), Mr. S. Singh. (Queen's College) Mr. R. Singh. (University).
The Hon. Secretary read a let- ter from the Shanghai Hockey As- sociation, which stated that Mr. H. M. Wetzell, of the Deutscher Klub, had no authority to make any proposals to the H.K.H.A. or to ask for any guarantees should a Northern team contemplate visit to the Colony. The sugges- tion from Mr. Wetzell was entire- ly without any authority from the Shanghai Hockey Association.

The letter further stated that Shanghai were contemplating send- ing a team to Hong Kong during Easter week if that were agree- able to the local Association and asked for no guarantees!
After due consideration it was decided to invite the Shanghai As- sociation here during Easter week, informing them, however, that they took an undue risk in making the trip in view of the unfavour- able weather conditions which pre- vailed at that time of the season, and that Hong Kong would guar antee no expenses.

BADMINTON SENSATION LAST NIGHT
King's College Lose To St. John's
S. P. CHAN'S FIRST DEFEAT
One of the biggest upsets of the current badminton season took place at the Cathedral Hall last night, when St. John's inflicted the first defeat on King's College in the "B" Division of the League.
King's evidently took the game too easily and introduced a weak third string, with the result, that they lost three games from this pairing. A surprising feature of the evening was the first defeat of S. P. Chan and W. M. Cheung this season. Woo and Chung also lost two sets.
This encounter proved most thrilling and the whole issue final- ly depended on the game between Norman Smith and Wilson, and Lam and Lo which was decided in favour of the former pair after a great struggle.
St. John's, V.R.C, and Kowloon Tong "A" are now all in the run- ning for second place in the Junior Division.
Other games last night went very much as expected.
