Among the other entries we have Honeymoon Eve with Mr. Needa up, Pontiac Bay (Mr. H. M. Pih), King's Warden (Mr. A. F. Mar- shall), Silversmith (Mr. H. C. Ph) and Soldier of Peace (Mr. F. F. Li). In the absence of Liberty Bay, there is nothing to prevent King's War- den from winging. Good as Honey- moon Eve is, and under the expert control of Mr. Needa, it will be nothing short of a miracle for King's Warden to suffer defeat in this race.

These events, in-Diana Bay for the New Stables cluding the Wong-Nei-Chong and Plate Maiden Stakes, will serve as an introduction for the new Aus- tralian and China ponies to the public
As these notes were written prior to the draw for the respective sec- tions of the Sydney Maidens and Wong-Nei Chong Stakes, I can only discuss generally the ponies which, in my estimation, are likely to win, leaving the final selections for to- morrow's issue of the "China Mail."
Liberty Bay May Not Start It will come as a surprise to learn that Liberty Bay, Mr. Dunbar's out- standing champion China pony, is suffering from a little leg trouble, and confirmation seems to be found. in the fact that it has not been seen in the morning training lately. It is nothing serious, but it is of such a nature, as persistently rumoured, that it does not warrant the risk being taken to affect its fine racing career. There is every possibility, therefore, that Liberty Bay may not be seen in action at all during this meeting, so that in its absence there should be exceptionally keen competition among the other own- ers to win the Champion Stakes. Mr. Dunbar has now to fall back upon either Diana Bay or Bear Claw, both of which are capable of taking Liberty Bay's place.
In reviewing the prospects for to- morrow, I feel that it may not be out of place to reiterate the warn-

I would also suggest keeping Bouldnor, Fetlar, and Happy Ven- ture in mind.

After the easy manner in which Happy Eve executed a recent gal- lop over the mile, there is no neces- sity in looking for the winner be- yond this pony.
Election Time, King's Highway, Potentate and Red Feather should provide an interesting duel for the minor positions..
I rather fancy Red Feather to come in second and Election Time third
The Sydney Maiden Stakes

Judging from training perform- ances, I regard the following as about the best among the new lot of Australian ponies:
Boronia Belle (Mr. L. P. Ralph) Courting Eve (Mr. V. V. Needa) Dick Turpin (Mr. Leighton) Gypsy Love (Mr. D. S. Li) Home Brew (Mr. HM. Pih) Katinka

Strathcarrick (Mr. D. Black) The Maiden Stakes last year were won by Strathroy and Holiday Eve, ridden by Mr. Black and Mr. Needa respectively. In Strathcarrick and Courting Eve, these two jockeys have just as good an opportunity of repeating last year's wins, Both.. these ponies are definitely good, and
they can be very fast over the last quarter.
