CHINESE BACKS IN GOOD FORM
In a very poor Second Division League football match played on the KFC ground yesterday, the Rifles defeated the Chinese Police by 3 goals to 1.
Rifles' Godney, the
centrefor- ward, was the outstanding player on the field, and worked hard for the openings, presenting Boyd with. a glorious chance on one occasion from which the latter made no mis- take. McDowell and Wilson were

AVERY uninteresting football match was wit-
nessed at Caroline Hill yesterday afternoon, when the Hong Kong Football Association eleven defeated the visiting East China eleven by six clear goals after a half-time lead of four goals. The local team were all over their opponents and could have scored at will, but slackened down con- siderably in the second when the Chinese team threw away three open goals.
INDIVIDUALLY, THERE WAS LITTLE WRONG WITH THE TEAM, EXCEPT THAT THEY TOOK THINGS MUCH TOO THE EASYLY IN SPITE OF THEIR SUBSTANTIAL LEAD. FORWARDS TRIED TO WALK THE BALL INTO THE NET AND THE VISITORS WERE MADE TO LOOK RIDICULOUS BY THE SHORT PASSING OF THE ASSOCIATION FORWARDS IN THE PENALTY AREA.

FINE HALVES The outstanding feature of the game was the splendid work of the Association halves, who kept their forwards well supplied throughout. Wride was very good at right-half, while Taylor shone on the opposite flank. Beltrao was sound in the centre, but had very little to do, as Tai invariably got out of his way in taking the ball up.
