The. Fascist salute with which Ambassador, Herr Joachim von Ribbentrop, greeted King George, continues the subject of considerable controversy on both sides of the Channel.

In England, Mr. Wickham Steed, l the famous journalist, attacked the Ambassador's action in a speech delivered before the Oxford Liberal Society.

In Germany, the official Nazi newspaper denies that the gesture was in any way an insult. The Fascist salute, the paper declares, is considered to be an honour in Ribbentrop's Germany, and von
