Two brilliant Portuguese sportsmen are seen above. On the left. is A. COLONY RUGBY FIFTEEN AT FULL STRENGTH
SIXTEEN ACCEPTANCES FOR SHANGHAI INTERPORT
(By "REFEREE”)
THE Hong Kong Interport Rugby team should do very well against Shanghai in the forthcoming Bugiry Interport match, which will take place in Shanghai on a ground yet to be decided upon, on February 11.

All 16 players invited by the Rugby Section of the Hong Kong Football Club to make the trip to Shanghai have accepted, although there are two doubtful starters' owing to injury.

FTER causing a great deal of anxiety to the officials of the Hong Kong Badminton As- sociation, entries for the championships have turned out much better than was at one time
expected, and as most of the Colony's leading
players will participate, there seems to be no reason why the first open competitions held in Hong Kong should not prove a great success.
The most notable absentee from the Men's Singles is S. P. Chan, one of the finest players in the Colony. I understand that be is not as fit as he might be and there is also a possibility of his leaving the Colony for a time during the Chinese New Year holidays. Another player who should have met with success is W. C. Choy, of the Chinese Recreation Club, who is on the injar- ed list.

I feel rather surprised that more entries have not been received from Recreio, a club with more players on their books than any other in Hong Kong. Oliveira and Sousa are the only representatives in the singles, while four couples have entered the MUST FIND NEW doubles. In view of the fact that this club holds the champion- ship of both the Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles Leagues, one would have thought that much better support would have been forthcoming.

TAM KONG PAK AND WRIDE NEEDED UNBEATABLE HALF-BACK LINE
(By "REFEREE")
ONSIDERABLE interest has been aroused as a result of the form shown by potential In- terport soccer players in the Governor's Cup competition last Sunday, and the Interport Selec... tion Committee have done wisely in arranging for a second trial game for next Sunday before making their final choice.
Two interesting teams have been selected, and, although the official version is that the Interport team or any semblance of such has not yet been selected, it is fairly obvious that Coloms, with a few exceptions, are the Colony's probable repre- sentatives. For the first time in many years the Navy will be represented in the trials, by Tel. Wride, of Stonecutters Naval Wireless Station. -
In reviewing next Sunday's trial the Selectors have appar ently ruled George Rodger out of their reckoning, and are still concentrating on Rowlands and Pan Ka-ping. Pan was not feeling up to the mark last Sunday and dropped out of the Federation's team at the last moment. ·! Rowlandis failed to take advantage of his first big representative game and his chances of making the Interport team do not seem to be very bright.
