FRIENDLY CRICKET AT THE VALLEY
K.C.C. Win Enjoyable Whole-Day Match
CRAIGENGOWER DEFEATED
(By "ADREM")
A very enjoyable whole-day cricket match - was
played at
Happy Valley yesterday between the first elevens of Craigengower and Kowloon C. C.
The latter!
team won the toss and, electing to bat, compiled 154, thanks to con- tributions of 30 by D. J. N. An- derson, 28 by R E. Lee, 48 by E F. Fincher and 28 not out by E. C. Fincher.
Billimoria, despite the fact that he only captured two wickets, was the best home bowler, and his left-handed deliveries of perfect) length had the visiting batsmen. of the time. in dificulties most Souza also bowled well, the ball with which he dismissed Ander- son being especially worthy mention,

THOUSANDS of spectators were kept in a continual state of excite- ment at Caroline Hill yesterday during the First Round match in the Governor's Cup soccer competition, which resulted in a well-earned victory for the Hong Kong Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation over the Hong Kong Football Association by 4 goals to 2, after sharing two goals at the interval.
The Chinese played the better type of football and dominated the second half ex- changes, the Association team going to pieces before well-organised attacks. As is well- known, this game also served as the Colony's first official Interport trial and the play of the 22 men must have given the Selectors plenty of food for thought.
There were several outstanding performers, and full marks must go to Lee Wai-tong, not because he happens to be Lee Wai-tong, but because he gave an inspired performance and scored two glorious goals. There is still plenty of life left in the "idol of China” and his place as leader of the Colony's Interport team is certain.
A.-Y. Gosano, the Associa tion right-back, and Lee Tin- sang, the Federation's right- back, were both in splendid fettle, the former proving the biggest menace to the Chinese attack, particularly during the first half, when time and again! he robbed the Chinese leader and broke up clever Chinese movements by fine anticipation of overhead passes and quick- thinking. Another very fine performance was given by Bel- trao, the Association centre- half, who held his line together in splendid style and was con- tinually a thorn in the Chinese

THE Diocesan Boys' and the Central British School have been described by many as the finest nurseries for local cricket. A few days ago, I paid a visit to Queen's College and after few minutes' conversation with Mr. F. J. de Rome, the Headmaster, U. A. Rehman, the Captain, and Mr. T. E Yeah, the master in charge of cricket, was forced to revise my opinion.

Two Changes
Changes were made by both teams prior to the commencement,
Brie Strange being included at inside right in place of David Leonard, who injured his shoulder Saturday, against Recreio on while in the absence of Lai Shin- wing from the Chinese attack. Tam left, Fung King-chenny moved to
Kong-pak was included at inside-
inside-right and Wong Shek-ping was brought into the team at left- back to partner Lee Tin-sung.
The outstanding feature of the play was the fine combination be tween Lee Wai-tong and his two inside-forwards, Fung and Tam, which paved the way for the Chinese success, combined with the splendid second-half work of the Chinese halves
Individually, there was little to choose between the two goalkeep ere both of them were weak. Bowlands lack of anticipation and

Gray And Miss Mackenzie Win
Consistently good play by Miss A. Mackenzie and spas=" modic. brilliance by S. A. Grey resulted in the defeat of A. E. P. Guest and Mits M. Grif- fiths by scores of 6-2, 6-4 in the Mized Doubles Lawn Ten nis Tournament at the Koig loon Cricket Club yesterday.
The winners received 30 every game.
SECOND INTERPORT
TRIAL
PROBABLES AND POSSIBLES?
Following yesterday's Gover nor's Cup match, the Interport Selection Committee met and ar- ranged another Interport trial for next Sunday, to be held on - the Club ground, commencing at 3.30
For many years, the Indian community, represented by the 1. R. C, have taken a leading part in the local cricket Leagues and have probably been champions of both divisions in the last 10 years more than any other club in the Colony. In addition, the last Interport team to visit Shanghai, included no fewer than three members, A. H. Madar, A. R. Minu and K. Nazarín.
About 75 per cent of the members of the L R C were! educated at Queen's and, hay- ing regard to the present pro ficiency of the LB. C. players.
