VERY disappointing final to the Hong Kong Area Knockout Football competition was witnessed on the Kowloon Football Club ground yesterday afternoon by a large gathering, when Head-Quarter Wing, of the East Lancashire Regiment, beat the 22nd Fortress Company, Royal Engineers, by three clear goals after lead- ing at the interval by a solitary goal.

The Sappers incidentally, suffered their first defeat this BIG HOCKEY season, but deserved no other fate as they gave a miserable display, only one or two of their players shining. It may have been the past Christmas festivities which played some part in their defeat, but the East Lanes, were the better team all round and should have won by a larger margin.

Following defeats in the first two games, the Australians have made three changes in their team. W. A. Brown, L. Darling and L. O'B. Fleetwood-Smith are replacing Chipperfield, Sievers and Robinson. Brown is now probably the most dependable opening batsman in Australia, whilst Darling is a brilliant left handed bat who is at his best against tired bowling.
