GOVERNMENT REINFORCEMENTS RAISE SIEGE AT SIENYANG

NEW AIR RAID ON

MADRID

20 BOMBERS AND 32 PLANES IN ACTION

OVER 80 KILLED AND 50 WOUNDED

Madrid, To-day.

The week's lul, due to bad weather, was shattered by the visit of 20 huge bombers and 32 fighting planes which bombed the western part of the city. Government planes drove off the raiders, but 18 were killed and 50 wounded before this was achieved.

Very serious damage was done in the working class quarter în Tetuan de las Vitoria. The Government claims that four of the raiding planes were brought down.

..

Later: Further desperate insurgent assaults on the Gov- ernment positions in the region of Boadilla del Monte are report- ed by the Defence Council in a communique which states that the Foreign Legion attacks were repeatedly repulsed and that the insurgents were eventually compelled to retire to their original positions, suffering heavy losses.

The intense cold is holding up operations. The Government claims to have destroyed the insurgent position during a new at-j tack on Oviedo. ---- Reuter.
