who ever lived. Out on the golf course you're one person. 32- other in the office, and still an- other on the dance for at night. That's as it should be, nothing so stimulating as a new make-up, is there?
Myrna: Nothing! As I've dis- covered. It lifts you out of your- self. Remember the first time I went to your studio? You said,
if "Miss Loy, I wonder
you realize you have several distinct faces?" I was 90 amazed-I went and sat in a chair facing the mirror and then you illus- trated what you meant.
Max Factor (chuckling re miniscently): You did look sur- prised! But you were a mighty apt. pupil. You saw in a twink-
ling how eyebrows that slanted upward could change your whole appearance. They trans- formed you from a jolly school- girl to a mesteric lady....add- ed that exotic touch that is so often becoming to auburn-hair-. ed, green-eyed girls like your self.
Myrna: Then, after I'd worn them slanted for years, I arched them....
Max Factor: Then you arched' them, widened them a trife, and didn't extend the eyebrow line quite so far. You made your eyes more round with clever use of the eyebrow pencil-and you did your hair more sim- ply.....

leading lady! But seri ously I think the expression of the eyes is what gives the clue to a personality. Besides beauti- fying, they need exercise. Real exercise, I inean, like any other part of your body. Let me tell you one way I've found of keep ing the eye muscles strong and alire:
1.-With your eyes wide open -like this-you look to the left as if you were trying to see the top of your left ear. You do it five times and close your eyes in between times to rest them a second. And, of course, your head should be still.
Try to see the top of your right ear.
ན་
3-Now try seeing over the Atop of your head Next. try looking under your chin. If yon repeat that little process about three times a day yoR have no idea what it will do for your eres.
Working as we do under blaz- ing lights almost continually. we have to take exceptionally good care of the eyes. I often put pads of astringent on mine while I'm lying down in dressing room. Perhaps you don't recall but you were the one who taught me how to rest them that way. You also taught me about creams ; .. Max Factor: About using skin and tissue cream around the eyes. Yes, the delicate tis-- sucs there do need extra hour- ishment, especially during these hot summer days when the skin dries so quickly. Women drive for hours in the sub-naturally they squint. And pretty soon. tiny crow's feet appear at the corner of the eye. Patting on the cream every night guards against that. And you pat it over the eyes, under the eye and at the edge as gently as possi

Glamour starts with the eyes. It starts with sparkle--the re- sult of a good eye wash, a good night's rest and good air.
Then you add a touch of mys tery-with eye shadow.
Myrna: As a rule I use it only on the eyelid during the day but for evening I blend it right up to the line of the eye- brow. Brown is my shade ... since I'm what my brother calls a "chestnut-red-head" and since I have...
Max Factor: And since you have the exquisite fair skin that frequently goes with your type. You see, you can change your looks with a change of hair- dress, with a dramatic use of the eyebrow pencil, but you can- not change your colouring...
Myrna: Um-precisely why girls ought to consult a make- up expert about the powders and rouges they wear, or to study their own complexions HD- til they've found the tints they need. Tints that are absolute-- ly natural to them. You blend- ed a power for me once-
Max Factor: It was rachelle tone.
Myrna: And that's the tone. I've used right along! Over blondeen rouge it seems just--- the thing to blend with my DBI- ticular colouring. And a vermi- lion lipstick sets it off. I use 3 fesh foundation cream-under the darker powder it gives a sort of healthy glow the face. Max Factor: That's what you want, what all women want—a healthy glow Occasionally red- headed girls, particularly those of the "carrot-top" variety. come into my studio with fiery hair of theirs. Quite often they bare light blue eyes and it's re- markable to see how a bit of well-blended makeup brings them
First, the flesh. foundation that you mentioned to give life and radiance to the skin, a little mascara and brown eye shadow will work wonders with their eyes in deepening them.

glossy look, but red hair seems to require it the most. It's the golden sheen to the red that makes it so beautiful..
That comes with a Myrna: little home work! You can't de- pend on your hairdresser entire- ly. Tve timed myself and it takes seven minutes only for a thorough scalp treatment at night. That includes parting the hair into strands, applying a good tonic and rotating your scalp with fat finger-tips. Then you brush your hair upwards and out for the rest of the time.... Another thing I like to do is to give my hair a good air- It ing at least once a week lies flat under our hats so much of the time--and in neat waves all day long- It deserves an airing ever so often I take a ta-kish towel and go outdoors and mb and rub and rub until my head tingles and my hair feels as if it were breathing.
Max Factor: And another "crowning glory" is achieved.. It is a glory, too, for any wo- man. Not these plastered fects, but beautiful hair beautifully arranged in 2 manner that makes you an individual. That takes experimentation, natural- ly. But it's worth it!
