Owing to the critical situation in North China, it is officially reported that Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek flew to Sian, the capital of Shensi Province in north-western China, from Nan- king at 12.30 pm. yesterday with General Chien Tai-kwan, his first Aide-de-Camp. Mr. Ma Hing-chang, his secretary, and a staff of about 20 people. There he was greeted by Marshal Chang Hsueh-liang, Commander-in-Chief of Bandit Suppression North China, Mr. Siu Lik-chi, Chairman of Shens; Provincial Government, General Yang Fu-sing, Pacification Commissioner of Shensi, and a large number of party, political and milliary officials. It will be recalled that General Yang Fu-sing went to Hang- chow to interview the Generalissimo on Sunday to seek the latter's instructions for the national defence of North-western China, and he returned to Sian on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
