[R. Reginald Philip Northway, the 27-year- old Northants amateur cricketer, was kill- ed, and A. H. Bakewell, the Northants and Eng- land batsman, was severely injured, in a motor- car accident near Kibworth, Leicestershire, early to-day.
The car in which they were travelling left the road between Great Glen and Kihworth. It crashed through a hedge and loverturned in field. Mr. Northway is believed to have been driving. The two cricketers were returning from Chesterfield, where in the second innings of the match against Derbyshire Bakewell made 241 runs not out-only 16 short of the highest score of his career.
Their crash is a heavy blow for Northants cricket-
