tion football in recent years than the chal- lenge of the London professional clubs to make London the chief centre of Soccer in the world, not only by the numerical strength of the clubs but by the results they have achieved.

I have said time and, again that there is room in London. for at least half a dozen First Division clubs, and it seems to me that events are moving swiftly in that direction. We start the season of 1936-37 with four London teams in the First Division, one of them, Charlton Athletic, being a brand new side to the and Tottenham Hotspur, who have had places there but are now members of the Second Division.
