ULTIMATUM TO IRUN POPULACE

Twenty-one new Spanish Government planes, including the "best bombers recently imported from France," were "destroyed during an insurgent air raid on Madrid on Sunday, according to a report from the Burgos junta which says that the insurgent spies in Madrid sent the news of the whereabouts of the planes so quickly that the planes bombed the place only 20 minutes after their arrival.
In addition they claimed that the hangars, workshops and depots were destroyed and the aerodrome was so badly damaged that several Government planes, in attempting to land, over- turned and caught fire.
Hendaye: Insurgent planes dropped pamphlets over Irun yesterday. issuing an ultimatum to the effect that if the town was not surrendered by 8 p.m. yesterday it would suffer the same fate as Badajoz.
The battle is continuing in the darkness, and the insurgent attack has been checked. The Government troops still hold the dominating positions.
