BIG OFFERS FOR SERIES AGAINST VINES
WORLD RANKING TO-DAY
(By A. Wallis Myers)
London, July 30.
THE future of F. J. Perry, the three-year champion of Wimbledon and England's main defender of the Davis Cup, was the subject of much speculation în lawn tennis circles yes- terday.
Perry is leaving London next week for America to.compete, in the American championship, and it is reported that, after that event is over, he intends to accept one of many firm offers that he has recently-received to play a series of public matches against Ellsworth Vines, now the world's leading professional player.
Of course, if Perry resolves to undertake this autumn campaign in the States, he will have played his last match at Wimbledon as an amateur-and a very fine match, too, as all who saw him overwhelm J. H. Crawford on Tuesday will agree.
