The text of Governor Lan- don's telegram to the delegates of the Republican national convention is as follows:-
My name is to be presented for your consideration as a candidate for the nomination for President
of the United States.
The platform. recommended by your committee on resolutions and adopted by the convention has
been communicated, to me.
I note that according to the terms of that platform "the ac- ceptance, of the nomination ten- dered by this- convention carries with it. as a matter of private honour and public faith, an under- takinr br each candidate to be true to the principles and pro- gramme herein set forth."
