"RING OF STEEL” STRENGTHENED
¡From Our Own Correspondent)
Canton, Yesterday.
Military pressure on Kwangtung and Kwangsi is likely to be relaxed if trouble arises in North China through Japanese troubles or the dissatisfaction of the northern military chiefs, political observers predicted to-day.
These observers point to the manoeuvres of General Han Fu-chu, Chairman of the Shantung Provincial Government, General Sung Chen-yuan, Chairman of the Hopei and Chahar Political Council. and General Yen Hsi-shan, Pacification Com- missioner of Shansi. These military men want to put up resistance against Japanese aggression and are disappointed by the failure of the Central Authorities to support that view.
