HE Recreio, who were runners-up to the THE
Chinese R.C. in the "A" Division of the Lawn Tennis League last year, have every reason to look forward to an equally successful season and, judging on yesterday's showing against a very mediocre H.K.C.C. team, they are likely to extend both the champions and the greatly im- proved I.R.C. team.
With the advantage of youth, the Recreio sextette yesterday made rings round the Club players, who were flattered by the possession of two-and-a-half sets. Beaten time, and again by their opponents' pace and initiative, they put up a plucky but unavailing front, and the majority of the points they secured were the result of careless mistakes on the part of the home players.
In Gonsalves the Reercio have a player of exceptional pro- mise, and he fits in perfectly with A. V. Remedios' style of play. In a set limited to 12 games they are going to prove very for- midable rivals.
