SOUTH CHINA "B" BEATEN IN PREMIER DIVISION SOCCER CLASH
SHARPE AND PRENN
IN FINAL
QUEEN'S CLUB SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIP
RITCHIE RECOVERS THEN FAILS
London, March 14.
IT was, perhaps, a little unfortunate that two men who had very hard matches in the Queen's Club singles on the previous day should have been opposed yesterday to two who had enjoyed a less strenuous passage to the semi-finals.
But in any case this would probably not have altered the result of the match in which N. Sharpe beat L. Shaffi, though the loser, if he had been less tired, might have won more games than he did.
Sharpe, however, is so much at home on "wood. and so un-) ostentatiously sound in every department of the game, that even the whirlwind tactics of a storming player like Shaffi never disturbed him.
He reached 5-0 and
a set! point in the first set, but did not 'clinch it until 6. The second he took at 6-2, and in the third again won the first five games and again got within a point.

VERY hard game of soccer was witnessed at the Valley yesterday, when the Club beat South China "B" by 2 goals to 1 in their First Division League `encounter...
The most disappointing feature of the game was the inability of the majority of the players to adapt themselves to the condi- tions present, and, whereas the Club shone on Saturday last on a sodden pitch against the Athletic, they were at-sixes-and-severis yesterday and could accomplish little.
