LATEST NEWS OF DERBY CANDIDATES

(By "Rapier")

ARRANGEMENTS have now been completed for the 1936 Racing Car-

nival, which opens to-day at Happy Valley and which is undoubt- edly the foremost sporting event in the Colony. All that is ncessary to ensure the success of the Meeting is for the weather to be on its best- behaviour.

may, however, rest assured that the views expressed in these columns have been arrived at as the result of constant attendance at the Valley during the morning gallops.

Before dealing with to-day's everts I should like to review the prospects for the Derby, to be run on Monday.

The finish is Hikely to be fought out between five ponies -Royal Scot, Rosemary, Bear Claw Honeymoon. Eve, and King's Sceptre.
