3.06. The Quantity Surveying Division and Building Services Division advise the Director of Education on drawings, specifications, contract documents, final accounts, building services installations and maintenance work for grant-in-aid and subsidized schools and site inspections are made. Work estimated at $21,700,000 was started on 54 new projects and work costing $19,200,000 was completed on 42 schools. Repair and maintenance work estimated at $940,000 was started on some 111 schools and was completed at a cost of $1,890,000 on 101 schools. Advice was also given on interest-free loans to 4 schools, amounting to some $10,500,000.
