After a goodwill tour of Kwangtung and Kwangsi Major-General Neiji Okamura, Chief of the China Section of the Japanese General Staff, left bere yesterday afternoon by train for Hong Kong en route ¡to Swatow.

According to a reliable source General Okamura. on behalf of the Japanese Army. and to the Canton conveyed Nanning leaders that Japan in- Itends to be friendly with the South-west and wishes to de- velop a good market for Japan- ese goods in this part of the country. However, the nature of his visit is not officially an nounced.

It is reported that the General will visit Swatow in order to study the situation on the spot. Formosans and Japanese will be asked by General Okamura to engage only in lawful pur- suits and not to embarrass the Chinese authorities, it is said.
