The Statement of Revenue and Expenditure of the Tang Wah, Kwang Wah and Tang Wah Eastern Hospitals for 1934 shows a balance in hand. of $18,472.77.
The Chairman's Report, which is signed by Mr. Lan Ping-chai, shows that at the beginning of the year, the Directors found them- selves faced with a budgeted de-: ficiency of nearly $100,000, chiefly arising from heavy decreases in rents on house property and in- terest on investments and antici- pated decreases in revenue from other sources. They had, however, initiated a policy of rigid economy and-retrenchment which, coupled with the receipt of Government {grants amounting to $57,982 and various additional' receipts from theatrical and circus performances. a garden fete etc.. etc.. had enabled them to turn the anticipated des ficit into a credit.
