HOW ALL BLACKS CONTROL GAME

SOUND SCRUMMAGING AND SPEED

LIKELYTE OF TOUR

(By Howard Marshall)

London, September 11. THE All Blacks, training and practising hard at Paignton, are beginning to find their feet. The phrase is apt, for the tactics of this New Zea land team, I think, will be founded upon a concep- tion of forward play from which we may learn a great deal.

I hasten to add that this is simply a deduction from the com- position of the All Blacks side, and our knowledge of the present state of the game in New Zealand. An exercise in the art of

inference more suited to Sherlock Holmes, perhaps, but let me suggest that it has its importance.

Mr. Meredith, the All Blacks' manager, is rightly giving no secrets away. Success in Rugby football depends largely upon the element of surprise and those enthusiasts who watch the All Blacks preparing for their match against Devon and Corn; wall on Saturday will make no startling discoveries.

LYNCH'S NEXT FIGHT FOR LONDON

JEFF DICKSON'S OFFER OF £2,000 BOUT

FORMER MESSENGER BOYS RISE (By Geoffrey Simpson)

London, September 11. FIGHT promoters from all over the country were present at the Jackie Brown debacle in Manchester on Monday, and when their almost unbelieving eyes had witnessed perky Benny Lynch snatch the complete string of fly-weight championships in less than five minutes they stampeded for the Scot's dressing room.

Our fight organisers are accused of many failings, but they do know a colourful puncher when they see one. So 21-years-old. Lynch from Glasgow, suddenly found himself not only champion of Britain. Europe, and the world, but the centre of attraction for the men who make these affairs possible.

But Lynch was far too excited to sign on the dotted line for anyone. Besides, with so much business available he saw no reason for hurry. I doubt whether even Jeff Dickson, who had made an advance offer of £2.000, obtained a definite answer.

However, it will be no sur-}
