Canton. To-day.
To be a model magistrate of a model county is no easy job This is the annoying conclusion confronting Mr. Yang Tsz-ngai to-day, as the people of Chung- shan Model County are trying to oust him as magistrate of that district.".
Circular after circular is being issued by the busybodies in Chungshan demanding the resigna- tion of Magistrate Yang on the ground that he is not model: far enough. The official has so ignored the clamour against. him and is awaiting the decision of the Chungshan Political Tutelage Committee: consisting of the "big shots of the Nanking Govern ment.
It was learned yesterday that the Kwangtung Provincial Govern ment has referred the objections to Magistrate Yang to the South- west Political Council, which is ex- its Southpro pected to make a decision at
regular meeting on next Tuesday.
If Mr. Yang resigns, candidates for the post are Mr. Ching Yob- yan, member of the City Kuomin- tang. and Mr. Li Hsien-kan, mem- ber of the South-west Political Council and managing director of Canton- section. the southern Hankow Railway."
