MALAYAN CHINESE
ATHLETES CHOSEN
HUGE CONTINGENT FOR
NATIONAL GAMES
BRILLIANT MEETING PROMISED
Singapore, September 2.
THE first Malayan Chinese contingent of ath- letes to take part in the All-China Olym- pic Meeting in Shanghai on October 10 has been selected, and in view of the fact that many of the athletes are visiting China for the first time. a large number of officers have been elected to look after the different teams, their training, their travelling and lodging facilities.
The size of the contingent indicates that Chinese leaders in this country are taking more interest in sports and athletics than they have ever done before and they are ready to back their interest in a practical way by liberally contributing to the general expenses.

(By "ROVER) Following the refusal of the Ap- peals Board Committee to admit the Eastern Athletic Association to the First Division of the local League, the latter have now re- signed themselves to the Second Division in the hopes of winning and being promoted next season. The action of the Association
was a
severe blow to the Club and there were vague rumours that the majority of intending First Division players would] resign the Club and offer their services to other Senior Clubs!
Mr. J. F. da Silva, the Hon
Secretary, however, assures me that these were unfounded and that the players are remaining with the Club.
