is (By Referee")

10 glorious minutes Lee Wai-tong, the biggest drawing card in the history of foot- ball in China, held a huge crowd spellbound by his artistry at centre-forward for the Shanghai Chinese against a representative Army side at Causeway Bay yesterday.

Despite this burst of brilliance, which led to two goals. the Army won by 5 goals to 4 after sharing four goals at the interval. Rowlands, a worthy successor to George Rodger as the Colony Interport custodian. was the only man to save an avalanche of goals from the foot of Lee-twice he left his charge to defect powerful drives from the elusive South China player-shots that would have fully tested the goal nets. On his display yesterday nothing can keep Rowlands out of the 1936 Interport against Shanghai.

Four other players were outstanding yesterday, but not to so marked a degree-Ridley and Sandford, who is modelling his play; on that of his better known colleague, and Suen Kam-shon and Tay Quee-liang-

Borderers, who left the Colony last year with a distinguished soc- cer record, took nearly a year before they fell into line with local conditions, and it speaks volumes for the Royal Welch Fusiliers, their successors, to say that they have become a threatening force inside of five months of local football

The Fusiliers came to the Colony with a very fine soccer record from the Rhine Occupa- tion Area, but after two years of idleness at Gibraltar, nothing much was thought of their possibilities.

Within a few months of their arrival here, however, they had shown the Colony a good standard of soccer and, towards the close of the season, even went so far as to extend the best senior Clubs here.
