DOUGLAS AIRLINER FLOWN FOR OVER NINETEEN HOURS

New York.

Fently for a twin motored transport plane OURTEEN speed records were marked up

at the end of a nonstop 3,100-mile flight over a course between Washington, Norfolk, Va., and New York.*

The records were set by Daniel W. Tomlinson, former navy flier, and Joseph E. Bartles, flying a TWA Douglas air- liner for more than 19 hours-

Tomlinson, one-time member of the Navy's famous acro- batic team of sea hawks, emerged smiling from the plane, show. ing little sign of fatigue. His wife, who had spent the entire time at the field following the progress of the fight, rushed to greet him. Soon afterward. Tomlinson and his co-pilot left for their hotel.

Clyde Pangborn (arrow) and Bennett Griffin, both trans-Atlantic fight veterans, hope to make a refuelling, non-stop fight around the world in this new type of "fying wing" Peperen- Burnelli transport. Pangborn is seen-patting the ship, which seems to be all one wing, through tests at New York. Three refuellings will be made on the projected fight.

This is being done as a result of the accident to an F 22 machine last. Sunday, in which two Britons and four Dutch- men were killed. and one Briton injured.

It is believed that the petrol feed system of the two port motors of the aeroplane failed to work properly. At the mo- ment engineers of the Amsterdam Fokker works and of the KLM are testing a new system which they hope will be 100 per cent foolproof.

The main alteration will be to, fit larger petrol pipes on the giant
