PLAYING outstanding bowls which eclipsed even his performance on Monday when he beat A. R. Dallah in the Open Singles competi- tion, C. G. Silva deserves most of the credit for he and F: X. Silva's win over the Craigen- gower cracks, R. F. Luz and H. Beer, by 26 shots to 13 in the Third Round of the Colony Bowls Pairs Championship at the Bowling Green Club yesterday.

C. G. Silva seemed to be endowed with almost supernatur al powers. his driving in particular, and on almost every occa- sion when his partner advised him what to do, he brought off the shot magnificently. For the first time since the competi- tion began. Beer met his master. Although the latter has been seen in better form, one could not have describer! him as being

a touch of brilliancy off-form. His moderate bowling, with here and there, was so overshadowed by that of Silva, that in places it looked almost like that of a novice

(By FRED PERRY)

London, June 1. AMERICA, perhaps more than any other land, is productive of lawn tennis prodigies. Soon we shall be welcoming two more as part of the formidable Wimbledon and Davis Cup team from the United States.

I have met these lads-Gene Mako and Donald Budge on court in their own land and will tell you about them. Since last year the available American strength has been sadly de- pleted by the loss of George Lott and Lester Stoefen, both of whom have thrown in their lot with Tilden and Vines.

HOWEVER, THE COMING SIDE, UNDERSTOOD TO CONSIST OF WILMER ALLISON, SIDNET WOOD, JOHN VAN RYN, GENE MAKO AND DONALD BUDGE WILL TAKE A LOT OF BEATING
