10,000,000 Spindles To Be Scrapped
London, To-day. The committee which drew up the scheme for dealing with the surplus capacity of the spinning section of the Lancashire cotton industry yesterday unanimously passed a resolution reaffirming the decision that the scheme should be proceeded with and give urging the Government to effect to it at the earliest possible moment.
The scheme provides for the scrapping or "sealing of 10,000,-| 000 spindles at a maximum eg~ timated cust of £2,000,000, to be met by a levy of approximately £180,000 per annum for 15 years. J-British Wireless Service.
