The first meeting of the Anglo- Chinese Women's Committee of the British Empire and China Trade] » Fair was held at 10.30 o'clock on Thursday morning at Government: House, and was graciously opened by Lady Southor. OBF. Pre- --sident of the Committee
Lady Southorn expressed the Committee's desire to further the aims of the Women's Conference to be held in connection with the Trade Fair in Decembar afteri which she turned the business of the meeting over to Lady Shenton, Chairman of the Committee.
The purpose of the meeting was to "discuss plans for the Womenaj Conference, which will be ind augurated the second week of the Fair from December 9 to -De- cember 16--and, to formulate a de-i finite programme of welcome and entertainment for the women from all parts of the Empire and De- minions who will be in Hong Koar at that time.
The object of the Women's Conference during the Trade Fair is to make it possible for the wo men of China to meet the women of the British Empire, to become -acquainted with their various points of view and to establish a mutual understanding and friend-4 ship.
