WATERLOO ARCHES NEARING DEMOLITION

The demolition of Waterloo Bridge is rearing a climax-nine months after the first Stone was removed.

The giant steel gantries, which run almost the full length of the bridge are completed. The pended centering is in place above all but one of the arches.

SUS-

By the last week of this monthi the bridge is to be still further) lightened; and work on the suspend- ed centering, designed to support the arches from above, will be ended. All this is to be plished without undue interference with river or Embankment traffic.

Finally, after nearly a year of preparation, engineers will be able to take their first step in the de- molition of the arches. Simul- taneously and uniformly work wil begin between the eight piers.

The demolition of the entire Bridge will be completed one year from bom.
