After enjoying years of semi-in- dependence, Yunman has now been placed under the control of General Chiang Kai-shek, who is at present in Yunnanfu, officially to map out a scheme to suppress the Com munists, but really to consolidate his power there. Three Nanking divisions are now in the vicinity of Yunnanfu.
