High officials of the Yellow River Conservancy Commission and of the River Affairs Bureaux of the provinces of Hopei, Ho- joan and Shantung, held an 'im- portant meeting here on March 28, to discuss the emergency, en- gineering work needed on the dykes of the Yellow River.

It was decided that nine items jot work must be proceeded with immediately, the complete execu- tion of which will necessitate an expenditure of $1,080,000.

Of this sum, the Central Government will be petitioned to bear an amount of $540,000, while the balance will be shared among the three provinces of Hopel, Honan and Shantung.

The work of strengthening and repairing the Kin dyke in north- ern Honanie estimated to re quire a sum of $460,000, which will be appropriated by the Ne- tional Government to the Yel- low River Conservancy Commis- sion.
