BYNG, BARON OF VIMY, AFTER VIEWING

"THE LIVES OF A BENGAL LANCER" PARAMOUNT'S TRIBUTE TO THE ANGLO- SAXON SPIRIT OF EMPIRE.

"The picture affected me deeply and reminded me

of

my days in the British Army more than any film I have yet seen. It was amazing to me that Holly- wood, so remote from the Indian frontier, could have so faithfully preserved both the spirit and the tradition of the military service,

Naturally, being a soldier, my first thought was to look for tactical errors in the manoeuvring of troops, but with one slight exception during a battle scene (when errors in formation are per missable and sometimes necessary) I found the picture to be remarkably accurate; so much so that

can commend it very highly.

Personally, this film, affected me with its spirit of heroism and sacrifice and I am unashamed to say that there were tears in my eyes when it ended. I should feel safe in saying that it will appeal to En- glishmen as a whole and that more critical element in India who are nearer to its subject matter. Lady Byng enjoyed it as much as I and we both de sire to atulate the Director, Heary Hathaway, and the Acton, Gary Cooper, Franchot Tone, Richard Cromwell
